Port Credit has come a long long way over the past 25 years. Now the crowning jewel of Mississauga, this was not always the case. With a history of over 300 years, it's existence was mainly as a Port at the base of the Credit River. Dirty and polluted, the only development in the area for a long time was to build apartment complexes, as only the most financially challenged were willing to live here. By the 1980's, investors discovered the demand for waterfront property, and what buyers are willing to pay for it. Enter the FRAM corporation, who kick-started the redevelopment of the entire area. South of Lakeshore FRAM built low-rise condo's and high-end townhomes. The city rebuilt the library and parks worthy of a high end village. Promenades, new businesses, more condo developments and independent restaurants followed.
