Meadowvale used to be a small outpost village, a farming community, that was developed into a more suburban area in the 1970's. Always designed to be affordable for the blue collar worker, there are many townhome complexes, semi-detached homes, and rental apartments and complexes. There are relatively few detached homes; and most are designed as modest family homes. Further development happened in the 80's west of Winston Churchill Blvd, where you will find some larger detached homes. Its best features are the 2 lakes (Wabukayne & Aquitaine) all of the interconnected trails and parks that run throughout the entire village, and the newly renvovated Rec Centre/Library. It is a quiet, family oriented area, and boasts some very good schools with french immersion programs in the public and catholic boards. Due to its relative affordability compared to the rest of the city, Meadowvale attracts new canadians and young families who need a lower price points, but can still get homes with larger rooms and lot sizes.
